AIC Honorary Board Member Donna Shalala Named Head of Clinton Foundation

The American Iranian Council is pleased and honored to announce that the Honorable Donna Shalala, an honorary AIC Board Member, will begin serving as the head of the Clinton Foundation next month.

The Honorable Donna E. Shalala has served as president of the University of Miami since 2001. She was the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services during both terms of President Clinton, and was awarded the Medal of Freedom in 2008. She has served as an AIC Honorary Board Member for over a decade and consistently supported the organization’s mission of normalizing relations between the United States and Iran. Beyond her years of public service, Ms. Shalala is also a proven fundraiser, having raised $3 billion dollars for the University of Miami.

Asked about taking the helm of a major foundation, she said, "My cup of tea is very complex situations and very complex institutions and helping people to think through their strategies and working their way out of issues.”

The American Iranian Council congratulates her on the appointment and wishes her the best of luck in leading the Clinton Foundation.

Sincerely,
The American Iranian Council
