Doctor David A. Hamburg

Dr. Hamburg is the winner of the 1996 Presidential Medal of Freedom, highest civilian award of United States. He is the president Emeritus of Carnegie Corporation from 1982 to 1997. Hamburg was a member of the United States Defense Policy Board with Secretary of Defense William Perry. He is the founder and co-chaired with Cyrus Vance, secretary of state, of the Carnegie Commission on Deadly Conflict. Currently, Dr. Hamburg is a DeWitt Wallace distinguished scholar at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is also a visiting professor at Harvard Medical School’s department of Social Medicine.
